INTRODUCTION

The Department of English Language and Literature is as old as the University of Mianwali is. Before the inception of the University, it was present as the English Department, University of Sargodha, Sub-Campus Mianwali. It has highly qualified faculty members that are engaged in teaching to the offered courses as well as in research activities. The Department of English Language and Literature strives to be one of the leading seats of learning and research in the discipline of English Literature, Language and Linguistics. It endeavours to develop a community of critical, creative, intellectual, empathetic and responsible individuals by nurturing them in academically challenging environment.

To contribute positively to the development of national communities through the provision of recognized and accessible programmes with the focus on the development of professional skills and promotion of employability.

VISION

The primary purpose of the Department of English Language and Literature is to provide faculty and students with opportunities to discover, research and examine critically; preserve and transmit values, wisdom and knowledge. It strives to enhance and polish language skills and to develop critical thinking enabling the learners to find their rightful place in the general communities of knowledge. The objective of the Department is the potential intellectual growth of the students that would lead them to serve the nation in the diverse fields of economic and social grounds.

Duration
The duration required to complete this degree is 4 years.

Semesters
Students are required to pass 8 semesters for the completion of this degree.

Credit Hours
Students must complete 142 credit hours for this degree.

Eligibility
At least 45% marks in Intermediate or equivalent

MA English

Duration
The duration required to complete this degree is 2 years.

Semesters
Students are required to pass 4 semesters for the completion of this degree.

Credit Hours
Students must complete 72 credit hours for this degree.

Eligibility
At least 45% marks in BA or equivalent examination with English compulsory of 200 Marks or equivalent and 45% marks in the subject of English compulsory.

Dr. Tariq Usman is PhD in English Literature. Since graduating from Sargodha University in first-class first (Gold Medalist) in his MA, he has been serving in different capacities at several universities. He started his teaching career at The University of Faisalabad in 2013, Later, he joined University of Sargodha, Lahore Campus and served there as a lecturer for a period of more than four years. He joined Lahore Garrison University as an Assistant Professor of English in 2018. However, in December 2018 he joined University of Sargodha sub-campus Mianwali. Currently, he is serving as a lecturer and Incharge at the English department of University of Mianwali. He is also an MPhil external examiner at Lahore Garrison University. Moreover, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Minhaj University Lahore, Ripha International University Lahore and The University of the Punjab, Lahore. He is the author of one comprehensive book titled Pakistani Fiction: a Critical Survey published in 2020. Moreover, he has presented his research papers at several national and international conferences. His areas of expertise are Poetry and Poetics, Dramaturgy and Screen Literature.

Ms. Ambreen Gul is MPhil in Applied Linguistics . She had been serving at Bahria College, Naval Complex Lahore from 2014 to 2019 and she has been teaching in UMW since August, 2021. Her areas of expertise are Applied Linguistics , Sociolinguistics, Culture and Language Studies and Creative Writing.

    Ms. Aneela Habib is MPhil in Linguistics. She recently joined University of Mianwali. She is freshly graduated from Air University, Islamabad. Her area of expertise is linguistics. Moreover, she has been presented her research papers at several national and international conferences.

    Mr. Omar Shehzad has completed Masters in Social Work, MSc. In Gender Studies and M.Phil in Applied Linguistics and has more than 13 year’s Training, Monitoring, Social mobilization, Resource Mobilization, Data Collection, Liaison Development, Event Management, Coordination, Presentation, Capacity Building and Teaching experience. He has worked with National Organizations, Aurat Foundation (AF), Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW), University of Mannheim Germany, National Rural Support Program (NRSP), The Urban Unit, Research and Development Solutions (RADS) Islamabad in WASH Project, and has served Civil Society Human and Institutional Development Program (CHIP) Training and Consulting Islamabad as a Training Monitor providing his worth as a dedicated, committed and honest professional. As a teacher and trainer he has served in several of public and private institutes. He has taught at University of Sargodha, Sargodha and Punjab College Sargodha. For a period of well over four years, He has been teaching at University of Sargodha ex-sub campus Mianwali and subsequently University of Mianwali, Mianwali. Presently, is serving in the English department of University of Mianwali as a Visiting Lecturer. Having diversity in his experience, he believes in his capabilities and has a passion for learning and professional growth.

    Mr. Imran Hasnain is MPhil in English Literature. Since graduating from Sargodha University in first-class first, he has been serving in different capacities at several universities. He started his teaching career at UOS Sub-Campus Bhakkar in 2015, Later, he joined MJCCS, Tarbila served there as a lecturer. He joined Govt Degree College Darya Khan as C.T.I in OCT 2017 to May2018. However, in September 2018 he joined University of Sargodha sub-campus Mianwali as Visiting Lecturer. Currently, he is serving as a Visiting Lecturer at the English department of University of Mianwali.
