DIRECTORATE OF SPORTS
It is an acknowledged fact at a global level that sports play a vital role in the overall development of the personality by promoting self-discipline, teamwork, and fair play in all fields of life. A variety of indoor and outdoor sports facilities for students are available at UMW. Each year competitive sports for students are organized at inter-departments levels in a variety of sports.
The Campus provides healthy and vigorous sports activities to boost up the Physical and Psychosocial development of students. Sports competitions are important to promote teamwork, discipline and enthusiasm among the youth. It is a fact that students show good academic results if they are compounded with physical activities along with cognitive nourishment. The available sports facilities include for Cricket, Hockey, Athletics, Volley Ball, Football, Hand Ball, Kabaddi and Badminton. Further efforts are being made to provide more facilities for grooming of the field.
Students of the campus have participated in intervarsity sports competitions conducted in different universities of Pakistan. They had also participated in every sport gala competition and earned several positions. Winners of the sports events are awarded with medals, trophies, certificates and cash prizes. In these events, dignities from the different walks of life are invited to honor the occasion.

SPORTS GALA 2022
It was a cool sunny morning, welcoming the spring and it was time for the UMW annual sports competition on 16th March 2022. All of the scholars were getting warmed up and getting ready for the games. UMW has many potential, energetic, enthusiastic and disciplined students who are very good in sports. At the inaugural ceremony, the entrance and the surroundings of the grounds were decorated with the colored banners and with flags of different size. Different colored balloons were released in the air, which constituted a fascinating sight. The Chief Guest worthy Vice Chancellor, University of Mainwali Prof. Dr. Islam Ullah Khan inaugurated the Opening Ceremony and addressed the role of sports in student life. Vice chancellor, University of Mianwali appreciated the efforts made by the UMW Sports Office to make the event successful and hoped that this exercise would continue so that the students might get more chances and could reflect physical and mental fitness in their practical lives All the 16 departments participated and March Past in the Opening ceremony. All the Students started to compete with each other and the battle of winning and losing was set up. All departments participated in different games including Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Tug of War, Badminton, Table Tennis, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Long Jump and Races.
