Emerging Trends in Freshwater Aquaculture Research

A seminar “Emerging Trends in Freshwater Aquaculture Research”organized by Department of Zoology. The session was quite motivational and informative. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan (Director Fisheries Planning & Development Punjab, Lahore and Director Fisheries Biodiversity Chashma Mianwali) delivered a lecture for the faculty members and students of Department of Zoology. In his opening note Dr. Malik Muhammad Ramzan explained about research in aquaculture and fisheries is largely a part of an applied nature aiming at solving practical problems related to increasing fish productivity. Engaging our students in research activities to provide viable solutions to the fisheries industries on the basis of their research is dire need of the hour. Dr. Malik Muhamad Ramzan also discussed the possibilities of the active collaboration between the fisheries department and university of Mianwali to strengthen the university-fisheries department association for the better future development of the area. He further added ,fisheries department Punjab will extend its full cooperation and UMW students will get benefit from the fisheries department for research, whereas the expert advice by the researchers of UMW will enhance the productivity and health quality of fish. A question answer session was also held by the speaker in which he discussed about the scope of Fisheries, Jobs and research opportunities.
The Chief Guest of the seminar, Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Islam Ullah Khan also addressed the seminar and highlighted the importance of aquaculture research for economic development of our country. He also encouraged and motivated the students to take this seminar as an opportunity for future planning of their investments in the emerging field of aquaculture.
At the end of session certificates were distributed by Dr. Shafique Asif (Dean of social sciences), among guests and organizers for the remarkable memories of the seminar.
