A study tour was arranged by the Department of Physics on 28th December 2021 at National Centre For Physics (NCP) Islamabad. The purpose of this study tour was to provide a chance for students to have knowledge about the working of different devices based on Physics laws as well as to know about many emerging research fields of Physics. In addition, students would know about the research facilities, which are available at NCP. Firstly, the official of NCP form Collaborations and Academic Activities Department (CAAD) welcomed us warmly. Then we took a group photo and visited various research centers/ departments.
1.National Institute of Vacuum Science and Technology (NINVAST): The concerned officer told us about the importance of vacuum in different experiments and briefed about all research techniques available in this Centre.
2. Experimental High Energy Physics (EHEP) Department: The concerned officer informed us about the importance of high-energy particle in different experiments and filled us in about many nuclear detectors, which are the part of CERN experiment.
3. Experimental& Theoretical Physics Department (EPD&TPD): The concerned official warmly greeted us and explained the importance of different experiments related to plasma cosmology and quantum computing. We were also briefed about research techniques/ facilities available in this department.
4. Information Technology Department: The concerned officer gave us information and importance of IT in theoretical Physics regarding data storage and directed all the students about different software and facilities available in this department.
5. Atomic and Laser Plasma Physics Department: The concerned officer informed us about different experiments related to Laser. Also guided about research techniques/ facilities available in this department.
An official of technical department also briefed about fabrication of different parts at NCP.
After the a day full of learning activities the students were taken to Pakistan Monument and Faisal Mosque Islamabad. All students were very excited and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of capital city and offered prayer in Faisal Mosque. This successful study tour reflected the fact that the University of Mianwali strives to elevate its students to the requirements of modern world of science and aims at providing the finest scholars for the world.
It really help us know the actual working of many devices and we are really thankful to our department faculty who arranged tour for us.
