INTRODUCTION

The Physics Department of this worthy and prestigious university was established with a vision to provide standard education. In short duration, the numerous students have completed their degrees in BS Physics and M.Sc physics with distinct grades and are serving the country in various fields. We have 300 plus BS Physics students currently enrolled. The high-profile faculty of department includes the PhD and Mphil members who have expertise in different disciplines as well as research areas of physics. All faculty members are working effectively to provide healthy educational environment for the quality of education. The department currently offers 4 years BS PHYSICS program a truly professional degree which meets all the requirements of modern era. The department has well-equipped laboratories where the students can perform experiments. The department has published research papers in high impact factor general. The department is also planning for the establishment of research labs and provides the research facility in collaborations with R&D organization in near future. It will help the students to enhance the research at different areas of physics. Department will offer new academic programs in future.

Library

Central Library is an academic hub of research and discovery for the UMW community. CL offers outstanding multidisciplinary resources and services in support to university academic and research objectives. This prestigious library of University of Mianwali has also been striving to support its users to solve the Socioeconomic issues prevailing these days. CL is equipped with all required sources of information both in hard and digital formats. In addition to the facilities, our library is committed to accomplish the most pivotal role in information acquisition, organization, retrieval, access and use. The managers have always been focusing on enhancing the quality of system and services. Students, faculty, researchers and other stakeholders are encouraged, motivated and facilitated to take maximum benefit of the library. It is a matter of satisfaction that we have developed our web online public access catalogue (OPAC) that can help the users to reach our library database worldwide and remotely accessible 24/7.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Malik

Assistant Professor

Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Malik is Assistant Professor of Physics at Department of Physics. His research focuses on the artificial design of oxide-based building blocks (Domains, domain walls, non-linear spin structures), especially in ferromagnetic materials. He studied the emerging phenomena and exotic physical behaviors behind the coupling and control of multiple order parameters (e.g. lattice, spin, orbital, charges) at reduced dimension. He also strives to create a bridge between those fundamentally scientific discoveries in functional nano-systems and future possible applications such as sensing, actuation, data storage, energy conversion, etc.
Dr. Malik obtained his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics, from Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China and Undergraduate from University of Sargodha, Sargodha. During Ph.D. he focused on observation and manipulation of magnetic spin structures in complex oxide ferromagnetic thin films and nanostructures for the application of spintronic devices. His recent discovery of magnetic vortex cluster was published in high impact peer reviewed journal Science Bulletin and the research was highlighted by AAAS too. Dr. Malik belongs to city of citrus Sargodha, who loves to travel and swimming.

Research Interests:

Observation and manipulation of non-linear magnetic spin structures for future low power consumption applications.
